Good that we hired a young, energetic coach who should be able to recruit Virginia kids.
Not so good that we didn't get a proven Division I-A head coach like Petersen.

A black man always gets the improbable. Uva program is in shambles so they hire a black coach. The other coaches didn't wanna come why? They know UVA administration and academics will deter the upper echelon from coming. This is just a marketing move. Cm on on people. Wake up for real.

This is just another classic moronic Littlepage hire. We pass up on big time D-1 coaches to get a guy with two years of head coaching experience. Sure he did well at Richmond, with a program that was handed to him. Until UVA and the alumni wake up and realize Littlepage is the root of the problem, mediocrity will continue. You want good athletics? Fire Littlepage.

We will have to wait and see. We need to give any one a chance. I believe that Mike would be a great start. He knows recruiting that is for sure. I agree CL has made some poor choices. However we need to look forward instead of always looking at the past.

Let's not forget that London was responsible for bringing in some pretty good recruits (Chris Long, Clint Sintim, Mikell Simpson, and the list goes on and on). He has what it takes to recruit and get the best talent in the state, and he knows what it takes to get te players in here (and to keep them from going to that other school out west). Recruiting is the first step to building a great program, and I think he has what it takes to win that part of the battle.
I hope the fans give him a chance, and don't expect a BCS bowl in his first season, or even his second or third. It'll take time, and I hope we give him more of the benefit of the doubt than we gave the last black head coach we hired (and fired before his first recruiting class could get their feet under them).

Who could not like Mike London. I watched the press conference and was very impressed. He defiantly knows what he is talking about. I am very excited to see what will happen with the program. I think that he will bring energy back to Scott Stadium. Go HOOS.

It will be impossible to bring the energy back to Scott Stadium without putting an end to the ridiculous ticket/parking pass prices. They chase out the true fans that have had tickets for over 25 years with a parking spot in the Lower West Lot by raising the prices to a price that people wouldn't pay to watch a GOOD football program. All to be replaced by some snotty alumni that is only there to show his face and BMW.

I do have to agree they did chase a lot of fans out when they reclassified the seating. They just blamed it on the economy. That is funny. Looking at every other stadium it looked pretty full to me.

One thing I give credit to UVa Athletics for is they did not waste any time finding a coach. Unlike what they've done in the past they did not hire a firm to seek the best candidate (and pay millions to do this). And I am sure everyone loves this hire now because it's someone who has UVa ties recently and has had success in the FCS but many are blind to the fact that.
1. - London won using the previous coaches recruits. Many call him a great state recruiter but he has not stuck around a program long enough to see his recruit perform over their college career. Granted, his not sticking around is by no way a negative thing since he moved on for positive reasons and strengthening his experience to one day be a BCS program's coach
2. he recently left UVa not once but twice for other opportunities. Was with Uva for 3 years before leaving for the position with the Texans, came back a year later and then stayed 2 years again and then 2 years ago left for Richmond. I'm not sure how well he will do over 5 years based on not being with a team longer than 3 years in his coaching career.
3. He basically came to UVa the same time Groh was hired and though not at UVa the entire tenure of Groh he was there for most so he is part of what Groh brough UVa to become.
I wish Mike London the best of luck and hope he can bring UVa back to a reputable program but his past does not reflect long term success and sticking around to see his recruits play a substantial length of time.
