I don't get it. Please, someone explain to me why this is done. The coaches don't deliver, we fire them and still pay the fu----s all this money. It just seems like a waste.

Recruits like to see coaches that have 4-5 years left on their deal (ie, they know who they are going to be playing for...sort of). If a coach has only a year or two left on their deal, it makes the situation look unstable and is used for negative recruiting by other schools. That's why Groh had the almost "automatic" rollover for all te years. Not saying it's right...just saying it is.
