I agree with what Mac said about getting a new coach fast. Not so much for next year's recruiting class, but to prevent any underclassmen from transferring.
We need to get a new coach in to start talking to the guys and getting them behind his program. Don't give other programs a chance to bend our guys ears.

The problem with that is choosing too quick. It's not about making the fastest decision to save a couple recruits. It's about making the right decision to win games in the future and improve the program. It's like instant replay in sports: you want the call fast, but more importantly, you want the call correct.

There is no reason that UVa can't do both. After this Saturday, it's the silly season...and open season on the best candidates. Getting a great one hired by mid-December should not be a problem for CL & Co. If it is, then it's time for CL to go too.

If the past repeats itself CL will waste time and let the good ones get away and we will be stuck with another nobody with another "long term" contract to buy out down the road. CL needs to get his finger out of his a_ _ and the checkbook ready for Peterson. He is clearly the best choice among the available coaches.

There is no indication one way or another that Peterson is even interested in leaving his current job. He has a good thing going right now and even if he is open to a change, why would he want to come to UVA? It has been said that he is unhappy with the pay scale for his current coaches but I would think any large university would be happy to punch his ticket. Maybe he would be interested in going to a program with a strong football tradition where he didn't have to rebuild? Perhaps he is looking for a challenge? If so, then Virginia might fit the bill but I willing to bet that he is going to aim higher if he does indeed leave his current job. Then again, who really knows? Only time will tell...
