The Navy coach would be a great pick.
UVa could get the kind of athletes to run the option, like Georgia Tech has successfully run. Plus, he'd certainly know how to enforce discipline.
Plus, it's a formula UVa's used before (Welsh).

I'd like to see the coach from Boise State. But I don't think he'd come. Anyone we bring in needs to have experience recruiting for a school that has stringent admission requirements for its athletes. I'd hate for us to bring someone in from a school that lets any and everyone in, and the fanbase have the same expectations for that coach.

Coaches most likely in matchups today.
London
Edsall - Grobe would take too much money

Ralph Friedgen would be ideal. We would be able to dominate Maryland and the Jokies with the Fridge at the helm.

How about Howie Long??? We need some steroids to keep pace with powerhouses like Tech and The U and he is the man who could find ways to juice our boys up and not get caught.

I think Howie Long would be a sound pick, but the bit about the steroids is rubbish Mr. Poo Poo.

Me likey the thought of Howie Long calling the shots more and more. Can you imagine the fear of God he would put in that ol' bag of wind, Beamer? Plus, he wouldn't do anything stupid like Groh and paint a "T" on the field to try to inspire confidence in our troops. Sorry Al, but just like you know from the NFL, it stands for "Not For Long" and your time has come to a close. I'm sure that there is a JV high school program just chompin at the bit to give you another crack at greatness. Adios amigo.

I vote for the Fridge. Plus, couldn't you just imagine him doing a Chris Farley "Tommy Boy" impression and sing "Fat guy in a little coat." Classic.

Slap Happy are you high??? We want somebody who is actually going to help us win. Get it? The Fridge's success came from the guy who was there before him, not from his own accomplishments. Snap out of it, Mr. Slap.

Mickey Mathews. Could get him for half, has 10 years in the area, offensive coach likes running QB's, smashmouth football. would probably take the job. he is 56 yrs old loves the area and doesn't want to leave.

Last year, this would have looked like a great pick. However, JMU has struggled this year. How about the William & Mary coach? He's at least smart enough to recruit the Archer kid from Albemarle HS who is a far better QB than anyone on UVa's roster this year.

Best guys for the job: Chris Petersen…One of the nation’s best young coaches Ken Niumatalolo…Hard-nosed and has Navy playing well. A winner! Tommy Tuberville…Name alone is an improvement, plus he’s battle-tested. Skip Holtz… Has done really well & has the family business thing going strong. Bud Foster…Even if it didn’t work out it would hurt Tech, so I’m for it.
Maybes: Mickey Mathews…GREAT football mind, but needs to be able to up to fans and boosters (sad, but true). Derek Dooley… Has potential & LA Tech is okay, but it’s too risky to bring him in. Randy Edsall…Not a big fan, but there are worse candidates.
Horrible selections: Mike London Jim Grobe Danny Rocco Al Golden & Ron Prince …No one with close connections to the current program should even be considered. Turner Gill…At 18-26 w/ Buffalo, I just don’t see him doing well in the ACC. Charlie Weis…Might be a very good O-coordinator, but horrible as a head guy. Clawson…still too unproven Ralph Friedgen…No, not ever! Phil Fulmer…He ran Tennessee in the ground, UVa doesn’t need his brand of football
